Just like Twitter is replacing some of what we used blogging or IRC for. But I wouldn’t say Twitter is “taking over” or “replacing” blogging or IRC. It’s a new tool in the ecosystem, and so everything is moving around a bit. I don’t think anything is being killed.

Le livre lui-même n’appartient pas un genre littéraire reconnu : fable ? Conte moral ? Satire ? Prophétie? Certains ont eu la bonté d’évoquer à son propos Swift, Orwell ou même Voltaire, mais en dehors de l’excès d’honneur, de telles comparaisons sont plus flatteuses qu’exactes. Lugano est un vrai-faux rapport, une fiction factuelle, voire un long exercice de logique. Il n’est pas la description d’une conspiration (je ne crois d’ailleurs pas aux conspirations, mais je crois aux intérêts). Dans Lugano n’apparaît aucun personnage, tout juste des signatures qui sont de toute façon des pseudonymes. Dans le livre, aucune parole n’est prononcée. Pas de décor non plus !”

Why does it seem as though more people are starting to write controversial books purely to make money off of the attention they receive when others attack them? Why are reputable publications publishing these authors’ tirades against others that are intended specifically to draw them out in a public fight? “The ward where my brother was confined, (and I use the word confined advisedly because for the first four days he was “asked” to remain on the ward or risk being discharged) was no different in this regard. There was nothing to do, no occupational therapy or therapy of any kind other than what came out of a pill bottle. He saw the consultant and the Registrar once in the first week and by the end of day three he was climbing the walls. The only exercise he was able to get was to walk from one end of the ward to the other. Other than that he could watch TV, listen to music or lie on his bed.”
