“The symptoms of PMDD are similar to those of PMS, but they are generally more severe and debilitating. Symptoms occur during the last week of most menstrual cycles and usually improve within a few days after the period starts.” MedlinePlus Medical Encyclopedia: Premenstrual dysphoric disorder

“Studies have found that women who have seasonal affective disorder (SAD), a form of depression characterized by annual episodes of depression during fall or winter that improve in the spring or summer, are likely to also have PMDD.” MedlinePlus Medical Encyclopedia: Premenstrual dysphoric disorder

“I’m deeply disturbed by the proliferation of troll-like behavior in contemporary life. Why are public figures increasingly appearing whose whole identity is wrapped around driving others batty? Why does it seem as though more people are starting to write controversial books purely to make money off of the attention they receive when others attack them? Why are reputable publications publishing these authors’ tirades against others that are intended specifically to draw them out in a public fight? I guess we know the answer… Or at least the equation. Attention = money. And in the world of media, attention = advertising revenue.” danah boyd

“The worse thing about the place though was the food. Microwave ready meals delivered daily were heated up on the ward; they looked like shit and probably had the nutritional value of damp cardboard.” Mental Nurse / My Brother the Alcoholic (2)

“The ward where my brother was confined, (and I use the word confined advisedly because for the first four days he was “asked” to remain on the ward or risk being discharged) was no different in this regard. There was nothing to do, no occupational therapy or therapy of any kind other than what came out of a pill bottle. He saw the consultant and the Registrar once in the first week and by the end of day three he was climbing the walls. The only exercise he was able to get was to walk from one end of the ward to the other. Other than that he could watch TV, listen to music or lie on his bed.” Mental Nurse / My Brother the Alcoholic (2)

I have hunger pains too, always had as long as I can remember. I know my osteopath does “stuff” to me (I say “stuff” because a lot of how this works is pretty mysterious to me) that relieves it for some time. I also know that the “one spoonful of olive oil upon waking” helps a lot.

I’ve also been tested for acid reflux (some horrible nightmarish medical memories there) and came back negative. So… not linked to hunger pains. Still no real clue what they’re caused by, and why…

“The American health care system, while technologically still advanced, is — from an actual care perspective — woeful. You would care more actual “care’ in a tribal village. The nurses are interchangeable, harassed, and consumed by paperwork. The doctors are on a revenue generation treadmill, and the big decisions are made by insurance companies or government agencies. And even though the bioscience and medical device fields are right up to date, the IT support for health care professionals is not. You can thank privacy laws for that. Paper records are the straw that breaks the system’s back.” Stealthmode Partners - Francine Hardaway’s Blog: The Healthcare ClueTrain Manifesto
